Since moving into our new house I’ve been craving to make over our family bathroom into a jungle-spa-soothing relaxing atmosphere room. A place I can run a hot bath and spend 2 hours switching off from the world. I was craving a way to be alone, not just physically, but also mentally. A place where I could go and re-charge my batteries.
I know that not everyone will have the luxury of having a family bathroom they can turn into a jungle escape room. But I want this to be more of an inspiration for you. Take bits & pieces which speak to you. Even if it is not a whole room, maybe you have a half a room or a corner, which you can turn into your little sanctuary.
Ok, let’s go & create relaxing atmosphere in here!

Because of this being a new build- I didn’t have to do any cosmetic work to the bathroom. The walls are the colour we wanted (Dulux Ivory), I didn’t have to do any patching up. I could just go straight to the fun & pretty bits.
Here are the items I used to create my jungle spa room:
- plants
- new pine shelf
- candles
- beauty products
- bath products
- other decor
Plants are the essence of life
My main aim for the bathroom was to fill it with as many plants as I can. That was the jungle relaxing atmosphere I was after. I wanted to be able to walk in there and feel like I am somewhere else. Somewhere exotic and far away.
Asking for help is good
After I explained the main idea to my husband, I asked for his help in hanging my plants. But he came up with a better idea- let’s put up a shelf. Which was absolutely the best solution for this space. He helped me cut it, sand it, wax it and then- put it up. He did the actual drilling in the walls, as we have plasterboard walls, which makes it more tricky to put things up. (here is a blog about- how to fix items in plasterboard walls)
It’s the little things

And what I mean by ‘little things’ are:
- candles
- reed diffuser (Wax Lyrical – Tropical Island)
- wall art
- all extra plants
- bath salts & bombs
- face masks
- anything else that you like to pamper yourself with
I bought couple of wicker heart shaped baskets from The Range (link here) to store some of the above items.
Love to re-use
I absolutely love to re-use items, make them multi purposeful. So to store my bath salts I re-used Yankee candle jars, added a little tag on a twine & now they look super cute.

The amazing wall art was done by my close friend Gemma –gemma.nicole.designs. She took some of the inspiration from the reed diffuser box and the plants I was going to have in the bathroom.
Note on hanging pictures – don’t use command hooks in the bathroom. I tried on 3 frames – all fell down & frames broke. At the time of writing this, the pictures are not up on the wall.
Isn’t candle light the best?

I love to take my baths in candle light, so I made sure I added plenty to give just enough light. On the top of the shelf I did add battery operated fairy lights, which highlight the ivys perfectly.

This has become my absolute favourite room in our house. It feels fresh and relaxing. My little escape oasis. I think my weekly long baths will be re-instated pretty soon.
