After all the planning, excitement, stress and last minute changes, the day has finally arrived. It doesn’t matter how long your engagement period was, the actual wedding day comes round super quick. To help you de-stress in the anticipation of the Big Day, I’ve compiled the do’s & don’ts of what to expect On Your Wedding Day.
As with all my lists, these aren’t in no particular order.
Ok, here we go!
Tip No 1 – Delegate
On your wedding day, you don’t need to worry about anything. My advice to you & I did this too, I gave my phone and any info needed for the day, to my made of honour. If there would’ve have been any last minute disasters, I didn’t want to know about them. I trust my made of honour to sort it out. Final on ‘on the day checks’ I left for the groom & his party to look after.
Tip No 2 – Prep Beforehand
I am well aware that not everyone is well organised. But to limit the amount of stress on your wedding day- it will be a Godsend if you’ve done your prep before. Do the final check of everything about a week out. Make a list of things that you need to do, pick up, beauty appointments etc. for the week leading up to your big day. List out all the things you need to take to the venue with you (decorations, dress, favours etc.). Don’t start any last minute decor DIY’s the night before, you don’t need the added stress.
Tip No 3 – Morning Plan
As I’m sure you can already tell- I love to be organised. So the morning prep was no exception. I did a whole rota between hair & make up for me, mum & my bridesmaids. In the end I didn’t need it, as due to Covid, 2 of my bridesmaids weren’t able to travel to UK.
You don’t have to have an army tight list of timings, just general flow of who is getting their hair & make up done when. Have a chat with your make up artist & hairstylist on how long it will take for you and your squad.
Tip No 4 – Chill Morning
Make sure you have some time to yourself before your bridal party & everyone else arrives to get you ready. Take your time to wake up, have a good stretch or maybe a yoga routine. Have a shower & a quick face-mask to moisturise your skin before having full on make up put on. Have some easy tunes playing in the background. Make sure you have your breakfast. One thing I strongly encourage you to do- put your phone away & don’t look at it. Don’t check social media. This is your day & it will fly by- take in every moment you can.

Tip No 5 – Getting Ready in Style
This was the part of the wedding I was most looking forwards to. Spending the morning with my closest & dearest, listening to our tunes, having fun & telling stories. (Unfortunately due to Covid-19, this changed slightly). This Top Tip goes hand-in-hand with the one above. Ask your bridal squad to get playlist ready for the morning. Get snacks & drinks. Add some cute bridal glasses & straws. You want to create stress free, relaxed, fun atmosphere for you to enjoy with your girls & let the bubbly flow!

Tip No 6 – The Night Before
You want to go to bed at a decent time & not stay up too late. You will have a very long & busy day ahead, so you need your energy bar to be full in the morning. If you are staying at the venue or hotel the night before, maybe have a nice girls night with your bridal squad.
Tip No 7 – Take it In
I am sure this is one of the advices you have heard the most & you are ‘yeah, yeah, I will’. But take it from me- even though the day is 12-14hrs long, it will be over in a flash. And just like that all your months & months of planning will be over. You will have the photos & the videos, but you will never be in this time & place again. Take a moment for yourself. Allow yourself to take it all in. You will look back on this day for year & years, you will want this piece of moment in your memory box.
Tip No 8 – Talking to Guests
Everyone will want to talk to you & you will want to talk to them. Good way to do this is- in-between your food being served- go & talk to each table for a bit. This way you will ensure you get a chance to speak to everyone at least for few minutes.
Tip No 9 – Have Some Alone Time
As the day moves on from waking up to getting ready, from walking down the aisle to saying I Do. From your speeches to your first toast. And your first dance. Take some 10-15 minutes, just you and your partner, find a quite corner & sit together. It’s up to you if you talk or just sit there in silence and take it all in. It will be magical.

Tip No 10 – Enjoy It
At the end of the day- THIS IS YOUR WEDDING DAY & YOU HAVE TO HAVE FUN & ENJOY IT!!!!
Our wedding day was the most amazing day of my life. Despite the week leading up to our big day was beyond stressful, on the day- I was relaxed, I had fun & I took it all in. My Top 10 Tips above definitely were a massive help & I have not doubt they will help you on your wedding day.
